Why is Feng Shui necessary for a home to feel joyful?
There are many joyful homes, even if you do not know you are implementing the tools of Feng Shui; more than likely, you are. There is even an Intuitive Feng Shui School.
If you desire and have the skills to be a super organized person, you apply the number one rule in Feng Shui: Clear the clutter. The Qi, or energy, that is present in the Home needs to meander easily, and if it’s cluttered, dirty, or obstructed in any way, the Qi gets stuck, and you get stuck.
Our homes are an extension of ourselves.
Balance is an essential aspect of Feng Shui. As a practitioner, I strive to help balance a person’s Home. If you are a minimalist, the Qi can meander, but it is not necessarily happy Qi. Happy Qi is when the Five Elements—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water—are in harmony.
If you are unsure what is missing, you can apply all the elements in one room: wood-green, rectangular objects; Fire-red, triangular objects or shapes; Earth-square shapes, and the colors of earth, yellows and browns; Metal-round objects, whites and very light pastels; and Water, wavy symbols, black, and very dark navy. You can also use the actual substance of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water by applying a plant, a candle, pottery, a metal sphere, and a fountain. A flower bouquet is always lovely and can easily incorporate all the elements.
A joyful home requires all its doors to work efficiently, with nothing behind them, clean windows that open easily, and a well-lit front entrance. It is essential to have a well-marked front door with easily read house numbers that rise upwards or are straight across.
Your front door is where the Qi enters, so make it feel welcome. Your Home is your sanctuary, and your door symbolizes leaving the outside behind and entering your sacred space. A solid, red front door is the best type of door.
Your bed is essential; make sure you have an attached headboard, and you can see who is coming through the door, which is you being in the command position.
Your desk is super essential. Also, make sure there is room behind you and that you are facing outward so you can see the entrance to the room. And don’t forget your stove. Keep it clean and ensure you are in the command position while cooking, which may require placing a heat-proof mirror behind the burners (which is good anyway because it doubles your wealth).
